The National Museum announces an architectural competition for its new exhibitions. The subject of the two-round public competition for delivery of architectural design of the expositions, exhibition space and visitor service organization with an emphasis on the vision and philosophy of the expositions and a particular link between the Historical and the New Building of the National Museum of Czech Republic.
Competition proposal should in the first round demonstrate the author's vision of a comprehensive solution to the expositions, exhibition and public space, including the organization of movement of visitors, while accepting the uncontested values of both buildings. The Round II will focus on more detailed views on specific solutions to the subject of the competition and its type will be specified after the completion of the first round. The proposal should also demonstrate the power of the leading creative personality and respect for the traditions, the perception of significant knowledge of the complexity of the space and the requirements of modern Museum expositions.
The purpose and mission of this architectural competition is based on competitive proposals to find a creative, technically and organizationally advanced personality, that will be capable of in a team of other experts to implement a comprehensive solution to publicly accessible exposition and exhibition spaces in the Historical Building and the New Building of the National Museum in the position of "the main architect of the expositions of the National Museum", and also in the rules of procedure without publication under the provisions of section 23 (6) of Act No. 137/2006 Coll., on public procurement, as amended by later regulations to award the contract for the processing of further project works, implementation of the author supervision and putting the projected area of the Historical Building and the New Building of the National Museum in the public service. To a procedure without publication shall the announcer invite a participant (or participants) which have been awarded the best in the Round II of this competition.
The competition is announced and will be carried out in the Czech language. All parts of the competition Proposals must therefore be drawn up in the Czech language. The Announcer, guided by the intention to facilitate access for foreign participants, publishes the competition terms and conditions also in English language. In case of uncertainties or disputes shall be decisive the the competition terms and conditions in the Czech language.
Competition for the proposal will be launched by posting a notice of the competition for the proposal in the journal of public procurement (www.vestnikverejnychzakazek.cz), on the profile of the contracting authority (www.egordion.cz/nabidkaGORDION/profilNM) and on the website of the Czech Chamber of Architects (www.cka.cz).
Tour of the Historical Building and the New Building of the National Museum will be held on 11th to 12st August 2015 from 10.00 am. Meeting of the candidates for the tour will be at 10:00 a.m. in the foyer of the New Building of the National Museum (admission for visitors), Vinohradska 1, Prague 1. The tour will also include a presentation of the concept of the permanent exhibitions of the National Museum. Please confirm your interest in a tour to the Secretary of the competition Mgr. Jaroslav Richter (e-mail: expozice@nm.cz) by 7th August 2015, the confirmation is indispensable in order to ensure entry into the Historical Building of the National Museum, which is undergoing refurbishment. Whereas that destination tour will take place at the place of the construction site, the announcer limits the number of representatives from one firm to the max. 3 persons.
The closing date for the submission of competing proposals is set to 19th October 2015 by noon. Place for submission of competing proposals, is the mailroom of the Announcer at the New Building of the National Museum, Vinohradská 1, Prague 1, 110 00. Participant of the competition shall submit its proposal in person, by courier service or by the holder of a postal licence, so that it is delivered to the registry of the National Museum, Vinohradská 1, 110 00 Prague 1, no later than the end of the deadline.
The competition proposals can be delivered in person to the registry of the National Museum from Monday to Thursday from 8.00 to 15.00 and on Friday from 8.00 to 14.00.
